Admit it, all your 'normal' friends and most of your family fears for your sanity! So, this is your opportunity to meet the people who will encourage you in that craziness, share their experiences and advice on how to do it, and maybe you'll meet them again in Mongolia or Timbuktu! "... Since attending the 2003 meeting a month before I set out to 'do the Americas,' I feel that I have now come full circle by presenting a slide show of my trip at Derby. It was an incredible feeling to have achieved my first public presentation. The thanks I received afterwards made it extra special. The HU meetings are unique in size and atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and more than willing to help, whatever the question. I felt that when I started the trip in 2003, and I felt that this weekend when I then presented it. Present YOUR Tech Clinic - good at something of interest to motorcycle Travellers? Please do a Tech Clinic for us! Please Volunteer to help out! Odd jobs, registration, gate, etc. We can use your help, and only a couple of hours makes a big difference to make it a better event for everyone!

Mini-Meetings
Small "local" HU Community meetings, often held in someone's backyard/garden/field for a barbie, or in a restaurant or local watering hole. Often held to welcome a traveller passing through, or just as an excuse to get together and keep the travel fires burning. Join, and contact your local Community to get a discussion started on where and when, then let me know and I'll post it here! OR just post it on the HUBB in the HU Events Forum.

Even the weather cooperated - mostly - though the pig and cow invasions required some effort to beat off! Pics and report here HUMM Pyrenees 2008 - July 28-30, 2008. Viedma, Argentina, Third Annual Meeting, December 16-18, 2005.
2005 event writeup here and 2004 event writeup here. Oscar Knecht, HU Viedma Community and organiser of the meeting says "...we will have some Argentinean moto travellers... very good asados and good wines on the river shore, or the beach, see some historic and interesting places..."

Location was same as the last two years, in Ulmarra. Famous Australian RTW travellers Ken and Carol Duval did a great job of hosting, Shirley Hardy-Rix & Brian Rix show Ireland to Melbourne, Haydn & Dianne Durnell did a great show on Alaska to Ushuaia and other travellers discussed shipping, packing and first aid. For the first time this year, there was a For Women Only panel discussion with experienced women travellers answering questions. Report and pictures here! 2004 event writeup and photos here. Oscar Knecht, HU Viedma Community and organiser of the meeting says "...all was very good in the meeting, we had a great time, and lots of fun too. The weather didn't help us, so we only had five travellers bikes and five locals." Register for the 2005 Meeting here. Copper Canyon, Creel, Mexico, Oct 14 - 17, 2004 The new longer format worked really well - lots of riding, lots of time to talk and look at bikes, and plan new trips. We had a rider training course put on by Jim Hyde of Rawhyde Adventures, which got rave reviews, and we plan to repeat and expand on that next year. We're also working on having rental dual purpose bikes available for advance booking. 2003 Mexico Photos posted here! 2004 photos and report - coming, some posted now - please send them in by contacting me here! Australia, Second Annual Meeting, October 1-3, 2004 Same location as last year, Ulmarra, NSW. Ken and Carol Duval bravely volunteered to host it again this year. Story and photos coming here - soon. Western Canada / USA, Third Annual Meeting, September 10-12 2004 Carol Palladino and Peter Cameron hosted this event again, in beautiful Revelstoke, BC. Some of the best riding country in the world, rides of every description, including one to a local hot spring. Watch for new location for 2005! Meeting report and pictures coming.... Portugal, Second Annual Meeting, September 24-26, 2004. Held at a great new location, in Gois, and very well hosted by Antonio Caldeira. I did make it there, and had a great time - thanks to all the wonderful Portuguese hospitality! Meeting report and photos coming. UK 2004, Fourth Annual Meeting, was July 9-11, 2004 The 2004 meeting story here with pictures and a magazine article on it. Well over 200 people attended, and all had a a great time - Grant was unable to make it, but Susan made a surprise visit. Eastern USA / Canada First Annual Meeting, North Carolina, June 18-20, 2004 Local residents Richard and Karen Fawcett and Jim Donaldson organised a fantastic meeting. Great location, near famous Deals Gap, and hundreds of miles of fabulous roads. The riding both on and off-road was awesome! Details here. New Zealand, Sunday 18th January 2004 Mini-Meeting "spit-roast on the beach nearby here at Amberley (Pegasus Bay to be exact). Food supplied!"

La Paz, Bolivia, November 8th, 2003. CANCELLED due to the political situation at the time in Bolivia, and consequent delays/rerouting. Copper Canyon, Creel, Mexico, Oct 31 - November 2, 2003 The Meeting at Creel, Copper Canyon was fantastic! A great turnout, unbelievable on and off-road riding, beautiful scenery and great Mexican hospitality contributed to a very successful meeting. Photos posted!. 27-29 June, Somercotes, UK 2003, Third Annual Meeting,
A blockbuster weekend with about 200 happy participants, described as "...uniquely typical travellers atmosphere that's an odd ball combination of mellow, and tail wagging enthusiasm."
